COVID-19: At-Taqwa Centre, Barking Emergency Measures

Issued: Wednesday 18 March 2020

Following the UK government, medical and scholarly guidance, At-Taqwa Centre has taken the difficult step of further enhancing protective measures by restricting to the public all congregational services and activities. This is a decision taken to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus in the UK.

As a responsible management team, we have a duty of care towards our communities. The preservation of life takes precedence over everything else and for this reason, we are limiting some of major activities at the mosques. This includes:

  1. We have temporarily suspended all Masjid prayers including Jumu’ah prayers until further Notice.
  2. For other prayers, the Mosque will be opened before 15 Minutes and closed after every prayer.
  3. Madrasah and all other educational activities, Talks, conferences and other regular lectures has been cancelled until the situation improves.
  4. We need to prepare the possibility that all public congregations are banned as this will have a significant impact on the Masjid.
  5. We encourage everyone to bring his own prayer mats for his own hygiene and wash hands as often as possible.
  6. Pray Sunnah at home before coming to the Masjid and after leaving the Masjid.
  7. Those are over 60 and those are underlying conditions should pray at home and remain at home.
  8. We must make DUA wholeheartedly that Allah protect us all from Coronavirus.

Ultimately, we turn to God and seek His protection in all matters, but this includes taking all the necessary precautions to protect ourselves and others. It is therefore imperative that we follow the advice of the medical authorities and do everything we can to delay the spread of the virus. We kindly request everyone to cooperate in this matter.

Thank you,

Coronavirus updates
The congregation is asked to do their ablutions at home or in their workplace if possible.
If anyone feels ill, with flu-like symptoms or a fever, they are urged to pray at home rather than come to the Mosque. In particular, older members of our congregation whose health is weak should do their prayers at home.
